In the middle of the Shivapuri National Park is a small village occupied by the community of Tamang and Gurung. The village is situated on beautiful mountain terraces with panoramic views over the Kathmandu valley a 1.5 hour walk downhill after Sundarijal. The Kathmandu trips are popular with homemade wine, local chicken and mount goat meats and local dairy products. In addition, the jungle around Sundarijal Mulkharka offers wild fruit such as blackberry, yellowberry, pesk, pen, sugar cane, mango etc. that can be picked and eaten free of charge for you (but please don't eat in the backyard of the local people). The walk leads you to the base of Mulkharka, through the prairies and the forest. It's a continuous walk across the steps, and next to the trail is the beautiful meadow. That's the place to picnic. Don't miss this journey if you're in Nepal with your kids. This is the same trail as walkers extend the journey from Sundarijal to Nagarkot for 2 nights / 3 days.
