Details Itinerary Photos Tour Overview Upper Mustang trekking is located in the north of Annapurna region, which begins from Kakbeni. We approach Lo-Manthang on the west side of the Kali Gandaki and descend on the less visited east side of this valley. The valleys aredry with amazing colorful rock formations of cave dwellings high in the cliffs. The first parties were there allowed into Upper Mustang in 1992 and there are still very few trekkers visiting Upper Mustang, as a result, it one of the few places left where one can see undisturbed Tibetan culture. Mustang is a remote semi- independent Tibetan Kingdom with a walled capital Lo-Manthang. Upper Mustang was once part of Tibet and was used by the salt caravans crossing the Himalaya into Nepal. In 1960's Mustang fought against Chinese forces for Tibetan Khamba guerrillas fir. CIA supported these fighters and secretly trained some of them in the USA. Day 2: City tour and trek preparation For sightseeing we guide you to UNESCO world heritage site includes the Pashupatinath temple, Buddhist holy pilgrimage (Buddha and Shyambhu), Kathmandu durbar square, Bhaktapur Durbar square, and Patan Durbar square. After took we drop you back to your hotel room through our private vehicle. Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus and transfer to the hotelNext morning, we prepare for the ride to Pokhara in a tourist bus. You can also take flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara as per you want. Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is about 30 minutes. You can view outstanding views of snowy peaks during the flight. We stay overnight in Pokhara nearby Phewa lake in a hotel. Day 4: Pokhara to Jomsom flight and trek to Kakbeni (2858m/9375ft) 3-4 hoursFrom Pokhara, we take a flight to Jomsom which is about 20 minutes from Pokhara experience the beautiful Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Jomsom is a large town and headquarters of Mustang region. This region links age-old trans-Himalayan salt trade route to Tibet. From Jomsom, our trekking begins towards the Kali Gandaki river bed and reach Ekley- Bhatti village. We take a rest here for a while and continue the trail to Kagbeni lying at the bank of two rivers. Kagbeni is an amazing windswept village located on the main age-old Trans Himalayan salt trade route to Tibet through Upper Mustang area. Day 5: Trekking from Kakbeni to Chele (3050m/10004ft) 5-6 hoursWe need a special permit check after receiving we move towards Kaligandaki riverbank upstream. During the trail, we come across sandy and windy trails following up and down the hill. After reaching Tangbe village we pass through narrow fields of buckwheat, wheat, barley, and apple orchids. Following the route towards Chhusang along the river, we reach Chele Village. Day 6: Chele to Syanbochen (3475m/11398ft) 6-7 hoursWalking further Eklo Bhatti, we climb up to Taklam La Pass (3624m) through plateaus with the views of Damodar Danda, Tilicho peak, and Yakawa Kang. Descending further, we come to the Samar village and another 3 hours walk leads us to Syanbochen (3475m). Day 7: Syanbochen to Ghami/Ghemi (3520m/11546ft) 5-6 hours From Syanbochen, we walk uphill to Yamada La (3850m) that pass through few tea houses, local villages, and chorten. The houses are similar to Tibetan style house with open Varanda. Crossing the mountain pass, Barley field and avenue of the popular tree, we climb to Nyi Pass (4010m). Walking further will lead us to the third largest village of Lo region, Ghami/Ghemi which is surrounded by large fields most are Barren. Day 8: Ghami to Charang (3500m/11480ft) 4-5 hoursWe will have a pheasant walk today. The trail climbs to plateau and passes crossing Ghyami Khola beside long Mani wall which is a sacred stone wall is made by Buddhism followers. Charang village lies to the east of the end wall. Day 9: Charang to Lo-Manthang (3700m/12136ft) 5-6 hoursThe trail descends to Charang Chu Canyon and climbs steeply crossing the river. The trail heads further to windy pass of Lo where we can view Lo-Mangthang village. During the trial, we will have an outstanding view of Tilicho, Bhrikuti peak, Nilgiri, and Annapurna I. Day 10: Lo-Manthang (Exploration day)We will have a day to explore Lo-Manthang. We will visit Tingkhar and Namgyal situated on the hilltop which is the important monastery of the local community while Tingkhar is the last main village in the northwest. We can also visit Tall Champa Lakhang, God house, the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa. Other main attraction of this place is four-story Raja’s palaces surrounded by beautiful mountains. Day 11: Lo-Manthang to Drakmar (3810m/12500ft) 6-7 hoursWhile arriving from Lo-Mangthan, we have a tendency to take a distinct route than that we come by. Trek to Drakmar via Gyakar with over 1200 years recent Ghar Gompa with Guru Rinpoche as the primary figure. The Gompa is additionally renowned for its rock paintings. Consistent with the legend, anyone who makes one would like at the Ghar Gompa, there would like is consummated. Day 12: Drakmar to Ghilling (3806m/12484ft) 5-6 hoursWe will get back to Ghilling which takes about 5 to 6 hours of walk. We will explore the place and stay overnight. Day 13: Ghilling to Chhuksang (3050m/10004ft) 5-6 hoursFrom Ghilling we head to Chhuksang which is about 5 to 6 hours of walk. During the trail, we will view wonderful Scenery of Himalayas. Day 14: Chhuksang to Jomsom (2700m/8856ft) 6-7 hourWe trek from kagbeni to upper Mustang trail joining the normal Annapurna circuit trek. After having lunch and taking rest, we head on to Jomsom. Day 15: Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus and transfer to the hotel In the morning which is the day of departure, we have our breakfast in the hotel and drive back on tourist deluxe bus to Kathmandu which takes about 6 to 7 hours. After we arrive in Kathmandu, you will be taken to the hotel where you can relax and stay overnight. Day 16: Final departureThis is your last day in Kathmandu so you can enjoy your meal, go shopping before the flight. Our representative with driver will take you to the airport for departures.
